IFA FOR LIVESTOCK
localg.a.p. is a key building block for those farmers beginning the journey towards certification and access to demanding markets. It helps producers (in particular smallholder producers or producers who are new to standards) to adopt good agricultural practices which, in turn, improve the efficiency of farm management, cut exposure to food safety risks, ensure compliance with legislation on food safety, and enable access to local and regional markets.
localg.a.p. may be the first step in a journey towards achieving full GLOBALG.A.P. certification, or it can be applied as a local standard for agricultural supply chains, especially in developing economies and emerging markets.
In 2019 localg.a.p. launched a rebranding of the entry-level standard and introduced Primary Farm Assurance (PFA).
PFA will replace all localg.a.p. ready-to-use programs by October 2020. It is available in two levels (foundation and intermediate) and available for the following sub-scopes: Fruit and Vegetables, Combinable Crops, and Plant Propagation Material.
