INDUSTRY AND SUPPLY CHAIN STANDARDS

In addition to IFA, there is also a variety of other GLOBALG.A.P. standards for the industry and supply chains.

Chain of Custody

The GLOBALG.A.P. Chain of Custody (CoC) standard ensures that any product sold with a GLOBALG.A.P. claim or bearing a GGN label logo is truly sourced from a GLOBALG.A.P. certified production process.
The standard requirements secure the segregation, traceability, and therefore integrity of a product’s GLOBALG.A.P. certification status throughout its lifecycle from farm to consumer.

Crops for Processing (CfP) is a global standard for responsible farming practices that covers plants destined for further processing, such as freezing, juicing, precooking, or as ingredients for animal feed.
The standard considers the unique farm-level risks of crops for processing and approaches food safety in a different way from the flagship IFA standard by eliminating the duplication of steps usually conducted by both the producer and the processor.

Compound Feed Manufacturing (CFM) is a global standard for feed mills.
It covers all stages of production, from the purchase and handling of raw materials to the processing and distribution of finished feed.
The CFM standard ensures suitable animal nutrition, safeguards feed and food safety, and sets strict requirements on the sustainability of raw materials used in production.

2022 news:

CFM v1.3 was finalized in December 2022, raising the bar in compound feed manufacturing by adding a total of 55 new requirements and significantly expanding on the environmental and social governance criteria. These include new sustainability criteria for environmental permits, fair operating practices, manufacturing processes (energy, emissions, water, waste, and effluents), labor practices, and local community engagement. In addition, there are now more detailed requirements for the responsible sourcing of feed materials, as well as maximum percentages of materials permitted in the final product to achieve compliance.

The GLOBALG.A.P. Produce Handling Assurance (PHA) standard provides food safety and traceability certification specifically for postharvest activities such as the packing and storage of crops destined for human consumption. Used in conjunction with the GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance standard or the Harmonized Produce Safety Standard, it provides a complete certification option for producers with on-farm packing or other postharvest activities.

The GLOBALG.A.P. Harmonized Produce Safety Standard (HPSS) is a streamlined food safety standard that includes the Produce GAP Harmonization Initiative’s Harmonized Standards verbatim.
HPSS is applicable to producers based in or selling to the United States market and is benchmarked to the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) for the primary production of fruit and vegetables.
